Nature: Garden and Club
Intent:
This year, the Eco Team have decided that we want to re-invent our garden areas. This includes the front garden, Forest School area and the wildflower/sensory garden. We aim to weed and tidy up the Forest School area, so that it can be used by classes and possibly begin Forest School sessions, plant vegetables and fruit that we can use in cookery/donate during harvest/sell for charity and create a sensory wildflower garden to support pupils who require a calming space.
Implementation:
In order to begin this project, first we will need to tidy up our existing areas. Some of the KS2 eco-team have written to local garden centres and shops to ask for donations of gardening equipment such as gloves, tools and seeds.
We are currently running an after school Eco club, in which we are tidying up the front of school, creating a sensory area with herbs, a wild flower area and space to plant vegetables.
Impact:
We have been unable to enter the forest school area on health and safety grounds, so we have arranged for a professional to come in and make this safe for us, so we can continue to work on this area and make it a beautiful space for outdoor learning next year.
The Eco club have really tidied up the space outside of the school – it looks much more appealing and a safe space to visit.
