Why?
Working to take care of our planet and live more sustainably is important in itself. However, as Catholics, and members of Catholic communities, it is even more important. In the Bible, we are given an important role by God, to be stewards of creation, to look after the world because it was a gift from God and so that it can be passed on to the next generation.
So, the first thing your Eco Team needs to do is to choose their ‘why’ for the year, the central focus which will drive their actions for the next year and provide the central thread to all they do. Your ‘why’ will come from a quote from the Bible, a Saint, from the Catechism of the Catholic Church or from Laudato Si.

With your Eco Team, please choose your ‘why’ for the year from the theology bank. Once your group has then chosen their three Eco Missions, they will need to write a short paragraph explaining why they chose their why and how their Eco Missions link to it. You can see an example below. Please fill this information in on your ‘Why’ form, which you can find in the resources section and upload it to your school’s page and stick it on your Eco board.
