Our Energy topic 25/26
Intent:
To regularly monitor classrooms and other school areas for lights, plug sockets, screens, and other energy-consuming systems left on when not in use. The aim is to identify instances of wasted electricity, uncover patterns of unnecessary energy consumption, and promote more sustainable use of resources across the school. By doing this, we recognise our responsibility to care for God’s creation and use the resources He has provided wisely.
Implementation:
A weekly checklist has been introduced, completed by members of the Eco-team with adult support, to monitor and record any electricity being wasted in unoccupied classrooms. This process helps the school to identify areas for improvement, raise awareness of responsible energy use among pupils and staff, and reduce the school’s environmental impact. In this way, pupils actively participate in looking after God’s world and promoting stewardship of the environment.
Impact:
We have seen less wasted energy as most lights, and electrical items are turned off when not in use or no one in the room.
